I’m thrilled for our neighbors in Cedar Rapids Czech Village, the latest area to see flood protection underway! While we’ve had our share of recent disasters—COVID-19, Derecho—we can hope those were “one hit wonders.” Flooding, sadly, isn’t a question of “if” but “when” and “how high.”
Protecting all of our city is critical. Let’s keep our foot on the gas, even accelerate flood protection efforts on both sides of the river. As Mayor, I’ll find ways to speed it up. Every citizen deserves protection sooner than later. It’s critical for us to drive growth and opportunity to put Cedar Rapids back on top!
